L’ESA Saint-Luc a pour objectif de former des créatifs encadrés par des théoriciens, des chercheurs et des professeurs issus des domaines artistiques enseignés en proposant des programmes d’enseignement et de recherche axés sur les métiers du design, des techniques du bâtiment, de l’habité et de l’aménagement intérieur, de l’écodesign, des politiques innovantes ou encore des nouvelles formes de communication graphique et visuelle et de narration contemporaine y compris numériques. Des programmes incitant autant à la pratique qu’à la réflexion, dans la perspective de doter les étudiants d’une solide culture générale et des outils critiques nécessaires à l’exercice de leur discipline.
ESA Saint-Luc wil creatieve mensen opleiden onder leiding van theoretici, onderzoekers en professoren uit de onderwezen artistieke vakgebieden, door onderwijs- en onderzoeksprogramma’s aan te bieden die gericht zijn op de beroepen in design, bouwtechnieken, woonruimte- en interieurontwerp, ecodesign, innovatief beleid en nieuwe vormen van grafische en visuele communicatie en eigentijdse vertellingen, ook digitaal. Deze programma’s moedigen zowel praktijk als reflectie aan, ten einde de studenten een solide algemene cultuur en de nodige kritische instrumenten voor de uitoefening van hun discipline te verschaffen.
ESA Saint-Luc aims to train creative people under the guidance of theoreticians, researchers and professors from the artistic fields taught, by offering teaching and research programmes focused on the professions of design, building techniques, living space and interior design, ecodesign, innovative policies and new forms of graphic and visual communication and contemporary narration, including digital. These programmes encourage both practice and reflection, with a view to providing students with a solid general culture and the critical tools necessary for the exercise of their discipline.

Fanzine marathon au M-11 Printlab
Dans le cadre des Portes ouvertes, un collectif d’étudiant•e•s investira le Printlab de l’ESA St-Luc tout au long de la journée pour l’impression et le façonnage d’un fanzine dont la thématique sera dévoilée le 26 mars ! Dès 10h00, les visiteurs pourront assister au processus de fabrication et seront invités à découvrir l’envers du décors de la micro-édition !
+ Exposition du projet FRart
(auteurs : Anaïs Berck, An Mertens, Gijs De Hein, Guillaume Slizewicz et Loren Britton)
A la croisée de plusieurs champs disciplinaires, ce projet de recherche pose la question de l’édition à la fois dans sa structure, confiée à la création algorithmique, et dans sa matérialité, en lien avec les arbres. Partir des modes d’existence du végétal en le mettant en vis-à-vis du codage informatique nous a semblé un projet à la fois inédit et pertinent, qui rencontre au sein de notre établissement les pratiques de quatre cursus différents : Arts numériques, Graphisme, Illustration ainsi que le Master en Bande dessinée-Editions.
Il s’inscrit aussi dans une dimension de prise de conscience écologique que nous avons à cœur d’encourager, notamment par les activités menées par l’Ecolab, cellule interne de développement durable. Son adossement à des connaissances pointues dans le champ des nouvelles technologies entre également en résonance avec l’attention que nous portons à celles-ci, tant pour elles-mêmes qu’en lien avec nos méthodes pédagogiques.
Ce projet a été soutenu par l’école en tant qu’ESA principale, en association avec La Cambre (ESA secondaire).

Fanzine marathon in het M-11 Printlab
In het kader van de Open House zal een groep studenten de hele dag het Printlab van ESA St-Luc overnemen om een fanzine te drukken en vorm te geven, waarvan het thema op 26 maart zal worden onthuld! Vanaf 10 uur ‘s ochtends kunnen bezoekers het productieproces volgen en worden ze uitgenodigd om de backstage van micro-publishing te ontdekken!
+ Tentoonstelling van het FRart project

Op het kruispunt van verschillende disciplinaire gebieden stelt dit onderzoeksproject de kwestie van het uitgeven aan de orde, zowel in zijn structuur, toevertrouwd aan algoritmische creatie, als in zijn materialiteit, in verband met bomen. Uitgaan van de bestaanswijzen van planten door ze tegenover computercodering te plaatsen leek ons zowel een nieuw als relevant project, dat in onze instelling de praktijken van vier verschillende studierichtingen samenbrengt: Digitale Kunsten, Grafisch Ontwerp, Illustratie en ook de Master in Strips en Uitgeverij.
Het maakt ook deel uit van een dimensie van ecologisch bewustzijn die wij graag aanmoedigen, met name via de activiteiten van Ecolab, een interne eenheid voor duurzame ontwikkeling. Het feit dat het gebaseerd is op geavanceerde kennis op het gebied van de nieuwe technologieën sluit ook aan bij de aandacht die wij besteden aan deze technologieën, zowel omwille van zichzelf als in verband met onze onderwijsmethoden.
Dit project werd gesteund door de school als de belangrijkste ESA, in samenwerking met La Cambre (secundaire ESA).
Come and see the work of the students of ESA Saint-Luc and take part in the
Fanzine marathon at the M-11 Printlab
As part of the Open House, a group of students will be taking over the Printlab at ESA St-Luc throughout the day to print and shape a fanzine, the theme of which will be revealed on 26 March! From 10am, visitors will be able to watch the production process and will be invited to discover the backstage of micro-publishing!

At the crossroads of several disciplinary fields, this research project raises the question of publishing both in its structure, entrusted to algorithmic creation, and in its materiality, in connection with trees. Starting from the modes of existence of plants by placing them opposite computer coding seemed to us to be both a novel and relevant project, which brings together in our institution the practices of four different courses of study: Digital Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration as well as the Master in Comics and Publishing.
It is also part of a dimension of ecological awareness that we are keen to encourage, particularly through the activities carried out by Ecolab, an internal sustainable development unit. The fact that it is based on advanced knowledge in the field of new technologies also resonates with the attention we pay to these technologies, both for their own sake and in relation to our teaching methods.
This project was supported by the school as the main ESA, in association with La Cambre (secondary ESA).
